There is no freedom for Berisha and Malltez, GJKKO leaves in force the measure

GJKKO has again rejected the request of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltez for changing the security measures.

The request was presented by the lawyers at the two-month information session, where the removal of the measure was also requested, which was rejected.

In an appearance for the media, Berisha's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, did not spare the ironies for SPAK, saying that it is behaving like a political party.

"The two-month delivery was a copy of the first two months. The same text with the same facts. There was an addition that SPAK had sent a request regarding whether or not the buildings had fire protection.

This was an innovation that I believe will give impetus to the investigations. We were pushed to get to know each other because there are many fascicles that they present to you for new facts, but we understand that it is the same text.

This is a scandal of its own, while the leader of the opposition remains under house arrest, without conducting investigations and without determining new evidence.

We have not lost on the steps of the courts, we have found scandalous violations in these courts. We have lost some battles, but we have not lost the war.  SPAK is acting as a political party, but we will continue on the legal path", said Gjokutaj.

We remind you that Sali Berisha and his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi have been under house arrest for months. Berisha is accused of passive corruption committed in collaboration, Article 260 and 25 of the Criminal Code regarding the privatization of the former Partizani complex, while Jamarbër Malltezi is accused of passive corruption in collaboration, Article 260 and Cleansing of Products for the same file.

Even earlier, Berisha and Malltezi had appealed to GJKKO to ease the security measures, but their requests were rejected by the Special Court as well as by the Special Appeal.

Therefore, Berisha is still a member of the Parliament of Albania. If he does not leave the house to go to the parliament by the end of June, Berisha's mandate will automatically expire due to his 6-month absence from the plenary sessions.
