The scandal with the measles outbreak in kindergartens deepens. 3 days ago, news made headlines in the media that a private kindergarten had many infected children.
The Ministry of Health and Public Health immediately issued a statement talking about "fake news" and denying the fact that there were measles outbreaks.
" The Institute of Public Health informs citizens that there is no measles outbreak in any kindergarten or preschool institution in the city of Tirana, as reported in some media. We call on the public to be informed only from official sources and to avoid spreading incorrect information, which creates unnecessary panic ," the statement said.
But it seems that Minister Evis Sala, along with those around her, has deceived. "Top Channel" has published today images of the private kindergarten where measles has broken out and it is reported that on January 12 of this year, the kindergarten on Rruga e Kavajës had 5-6 unvaccinated children infected with measles. The kindergarten itself has notified the competent authorities, but the Ministry of Health and the Institute of Public Health have hidden the event.
Immediately after the announcement, epidemiologists from Tirana arrived at this kindergarten to investigate and isolate the cases, to break the chain of spreading measles to other children attending this kindergarten, and to continue the epidemiological investigation.
Starting from January 12, 2026, in compliance with the procedures of the Public Health Directorate, this kindergarten has been quarantined for 21 days. There is even a record of this, which is available to both the kindergarten administrators and the Public Health Directorate.
The Institute of Public Health and the Ministry of Health must be held responsible for the minutes they have kept and are hiding by publicly denying it. Likewise, Evis Sala must come out and say why she lied, because measles is no joke. This can happen to other kindergartens, whether private or public, and the minister, instead of taking action, is scolding the media.
