Hoxha criticizes the Prime Minister's approach to justice reform
Journalist Artan Hoxha stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his comments on the justice system, addressed the responsibility to the courts and not to the Special Prosecution Office. According to him, this move comes after someone has 'opened his eyes' recently and told him that he is making a mistake.
Hoxha argued that the proposals presented aim to limit suspension from duty, but do not affect the measure of arrest. He stressed that the current procedure provides for the arrest of officials to be authorized by the Assembly, while decision-making on security measures remains the competence of the court.
Hoxha added on A2CNN that Rama himself admitted that the courts are approving the prosecution's requests, which according to him raises questions about the functioning of the justice reform.
The journalist stated that after ten years since the reform began, statistics show problems in the system.
Artan Hoxha: At first glance, if you look at it, he will lift the suspension, but he cannot lift the arrest. He demands that they address the assembly for direct arrest. Today he did not deal with SPAK, he dealt with the courts. He blamed the courts for what SPAK is doing. Because someone has given him this time that he is getting it wrong. He is getting it wrong for nothing. Yes, those are court decisions. And today he finally said the courts notarize SPAK decisions. Yes, you are the man who made the reform. What have you done now? Today we are 10 years behind where more clearly than ever all the statistics tell us that we have failed with the reform. We cannot hide and all the figures that the Prime Minister himself mentioned today and he must be the first to come out and say that we have failed, we have made a mistake and the failure knows where it was? Not simply in the innocent citizens today inside, because the postulate in justice is better 99 guilty outside, than one innocent inside. Meanwhile, 2/3 of our prisoners are innocent.
