Journalist Glidona Daci has shown details of the megascandal at the Oncology hospital, where doctors and hospital employees abused their duties, creating difficulties for cancer patients.
She said that the investigations started in 2023, adding that the case started with the trade of contraband drugs, but the scandal involving the Oncology doctors also resulted from the interceptions.
Daci said that the investigations, from SPAK, have passed to the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana, because it was assessed that they were not related to corruption, but to abuse of office. She explained that in this case, infiltrated agents were also involved.
"The oncology dome has functioned as a realtor, directing patients to private clinics. What happened?
A patient who was grade 2, after the tests, they took it to 10, telling the patients that since the conditions in the state hospital could not be realized quickly, then they had to go to a private one.
Here they were instructed which hospital they should go to. What came out of the investigations? Even in cases where the citizens bought the vials themselves, the doctors did not make them for them. From the investigation of the prosecution, it was found that the doctors were mocking the lives of the citizens. From the interceptions, it emerged that with the operations they were doing, they would take their vacations in the Maldives or Thailand" , said Daci to "News 24".
According to the journalist, the most terrible thing in this story is that people were put into surgery who did not need such an intervention, as she adds that this was only done so that the patients or their families could get money.
She said that there were cases when those who had more money secured the vials faster, while others remained waiting regardless of the queue or their state of health.
