Epidemiologist Ilir Alimehmeti commented on the Oncology scandal and Rama's statements in the meeting held with the doctors and nurses of this hospital.
He said that Rama continues with the same attitude, blaming others. Alimehmeti added that Rama promised free healthcare in 2013, while today it turns out that 60% of the services are paid from the citizens' pockets.
"Edi Rama does not look at the KLSH reports that reveal the abuses, he does not accept the collapse of the system he wanted to build for free, and he gets caught up in certain episodes, putting the responsibility on others. I would have congratulated Edi Rama if he had gathered the doctors and asked for their cooperation, to seek the solution of the problems, but what he did, he did the trial" , said Alimehmeti for "News 24".
He added that whoever violated the law must face it, but until the judgment comes out, we have the presumption of innocence.
"In that meeting, Edi Rama made a public trial, a popular trial. This flood that is happening to us now comes from several rivers. Let the phenomena be captured, but the question I have is: who established this model, who created the situations that today we have the smallest number of doctors in Europe?", Alimehmeti said.
The epidemiologist added that within the Oncology file we have 3 issues: medications leaving the hospital to private pharmacies, sending patients to private clinics and not putting medical equipment to work.
"If there is enough chemotherapy for patients treated at the Oncology Center, if there is enough medical equipment, would we have this situation today? If we had enough doctors, would we face such situations? The duty of the Government is to come before these issues" , he said.
