Often, the causes of divorce are either infidelity or economics, but technological development seems to be "entering the fray" among Albanian couples.
We are talking about social networks, especially TikTok. Lawyer Aurora Marku, invited today to the "Aldo Morning Show", explains that TikTok has brought many divorces to our country, while sharing her experience with a couple who separated because of this social network.
In the lawyer's experience, a high school teacher in Tirana had an addiction to TikTok, which affected the well-being of her family. It was the husband who sought a divorce, as the wife would involve her husband and children in going live on TikTok for hours on end.
"I had a case that I fortunately closed, I got rid of, because they were very conflictive with each other. It was a case, really, to get rid of. The lady was very conflictive. The divorce was filed by the husband, because she had a terrible addiction to TikTok, which led her to the point where she locked her husband and her two children. She locked them in the bedroom for hours. They didn't even have the opportunity to eat, she wouldn't even let them go to the toilet. She was a nun, she taught at one of the high schools here in Tirana, and for over two months she had been going live on TikTok every day and locking her husband and her two children," the lawyer said.
Mark further explains that the woman did not retain custody of the children, as she saw them as an obstacle.
