After the residents' denunciations and protest, IKMT has landed in the camp inside the plant where it has started the action for the demolition of the quarry owned by the SP mayor, Rexhë Byberi.
The action comes after continuous protests by residents of Fierzë Administrative Unit in Tropoja who have asked the institutions to react immediately to block the work in the quarries and stop the construction of a bitumen factory that is being built next to this axis.
Residents have claimed that these entities are destroying the natural habitat of the mountains, mountain tourism, drinking water pollution and making their livelihood difficult.
Also, they say that the activity of the quarries and the bitumen factory has no legal documentation.
Regarding this issue, two days ago they filed a criminal complaint with SPAK, the head of Tropoja Municipality, Rexë Byberi, with the accusation of abuse of office and favoritism of family members.
According to the residents of the area, the mayor of Tropoja has favored his cousins in open violation of the law on conflict of interest.
"We, the complainants, are residents of Tropoja Municipality, where we have been harassed by the mayor Rexë Byberi for about 3 years without finding a solution.
The mayor of Tropoja municipality Rexhe Byberi is involved in criminal activities, and for this reason we are making this report where we accuse him of the criminal offense of "Abuse of duty" provided by article 248 of the Criminal Code and the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials".
This criminal activity is carried out by this mayor with his uncle's sons, one of whom is Avni Byberi, accused by us of the criminal offense of "Active corruption of high state officials or local elected officials" provided for by Article 245 of the Penal Code and "Cleaning of the products of the criminal offense" provided by article 287 of the Penal Code" , it is stated in the denunciation of the residents.
We remind you that earlier the residents of Fierza in Tropoja have protested several times blocking the national axis Firze-Sheshi Trageteve-Bajram Curri. The blocking of the road has come about due to the requests of the residents to the institutions to block the work in the quarries and the ban on the construction of a bitumen factory that is being built on the side of this axis.
The quarry is owned by the cousin of the mayor Rexhe Byberi, Avni Byberi. According to them, working in the quarry brings many problems with the environment, but not only. Residents have raised claims that these entities are destroying the natural habitat of the mountains, mountain tourism, drinking water pollution and making their livelihood difficult.
