The death of 3-year-old Brian Spahiu, two weeks ago at the dental clinic of doctor Roland Xhaxho in Tirana, but also other serious events with loss of life, for analyst Andi Bushati, are indicators of the "miracle of privatization" of the dentistry sector in the country, decades ago.
Bushati said in the show "The Unexposed" that Albania has turned into an Eldorado of dental tourism, of what he described as dental fashionistas.
"If you look at all the neoliberals in Albania, they took the privatization of the dental sector, which happened first in public medicine, as the thing "look who is the miracle of privatization". It was the time when hospitals were better and these clinics started to flourish dental.
Two weeks ago I saw a French documentary about how Albania has turned into an Eldorado of dental tourism. Are we at a point where, if we privatize the entire health system, as has happened with the creation of these dental facilities, do they do good or do they do bad? If we want to see it in the macro, does this aggressive privatization ultimately serve the citizen, or does it turn into a ripping machine and the state must be stronger, the public must be stronger and the control must be strong?", said analyst Bushati.
