Journalist Fatos Mahmutaj, who was injured on January 21, 2011, when 4 opposition protesters were killed on the "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard by the weapons of state employees, has commented on the decision of the Strasbourg Court, which said that the state is responsible and requested to be re-investigated. In an interview for Report TV, he considered the decision of Strasbourg a delayed news, as he added that during these 13 years, the judicial bodies have played ping-pong with this issue, while the file has disappeared.
" Late but good news. We are going to 13 years from January 21, it was like pong pong between justice institutions. Every time he passed from one link to another, the file was destroyed. Testimonies were removed, evidence as well ," he said.
The main person responsible for January 21, Mahmutaj said that he is Berisha himself, while he requested that the case be re-investigated. While commenting on Berisha's accusations that January 21 was investigated by SP militants, Mahmutaj said that the former prime minister is feeling the cold of the cell.

Question : The decision of the Strasbourg Court for January 21, how do you comment on the statement of Minister Manja, that the authorities in new Albania are investigating January 21? How did you expect this news?
Mahmutaj : Late news. We are going to 13 years from January 21, it was like pong pong between justice institutions. Every time he passed from one link to another, the file was destroyed. Evidence was removed, so was the evidence. Strasbourg really does not have a binding but advisory decision for the government. With this decision, Strasbourg has said to reopen the case from the beginning, this is a good thing even though 13 years later.
Question : What does the public not know about what happened on January 21?
Mahmutaj : The main person responsible is Sali Berisha, it is known. Then Berisha's chief of security is also in command... The executors are Agim Llupo and Berisha's chief of security. These are known, but they have never been charged and they have not been placed in the file.
Question : You were there as a witness, then got injured and left? Are you ready to testify if there is a re-investigation? What about Berisha's accusations that the investigation was done by a SP militant, what comment do you have?
Mahmutaj : Aman, take Berisha seriously now after 13 years. He was the person who after what he did said he would have killed 1000... he would have killed Edi Rama. Berisha is feeling the coldness of the handcuffs and the cell, he has realized where he ends up and makes such statements.
The threat he made to the American ambassador in 1997 was also published in the media. He said I didn't forgive him. We have Berisha accused of other issues that have caused great damage to Albanians. We have other cases, Gërdeci, Rruga e Kombit, cases have been added to the point where it no longer goes. The last case that Berisha is under investigation is for his niece. Imagine which Albanian you have met dozens of times, the moment your mind is full of buying a flat, buy it like when you are buying a jacket.
