Scandal in Kukës/ Minor caught under inert gas

A student of the 9-year-old school “Bajram Curri” in Kukës was injured yesterday afternoon in the premises near the educational institution. The incident occurred in the school yard, opposite which works are underway for the complete reconstruction of the former old school “Bajram Curri”, which will be adapted as a vocational school.
The child was playing with a ball and after the ball ended up near the construction site, he approached it to pick it up. At that moment, inert materials fell on him and injured him.

Teachers and students initially transported him to the emergency room of the Kukës hospital. Later, doctors sent him to the Trauma Hospital, where he is in serious condition. Sources indicate that the necessary technical safety measures were not in place in the construction area. Today, the authorities completely isolated the construction site.

Meanwhile, the Labor Inspectorate intervened by blocking the works and installing safety barriers, due to the lack of technical conditions and protective measures at the construction site.

The police have initiated criminal proceedings against the technical director and the employee of the company that was carrying out the work.

"Cancer and heart disease", shocking study; Snickers, Kit Kat and Twix with high levels of arsenic

A recently published study by the organization Healthy Florida First has raised concerns about the presence of arsenic in some of the most popular candies on the market.

According to the study, 48 different products were tested, of which 28 were found to contain what the authors describe as toxic levels of arsenic.

Among the products mentioned as being affected by abnormal levels of this heavy metal are well-known brands such as: Kit Kat, Snickers, Original Skittles, Swedish Fish, Sour Patch Kids and Tootsie Roll.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), arsenic can be found in foods due to the soil where the raw materials are grown or the processing processes. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns that long-term exposure to arsenic may be linked to serious health risks, including certain types of cancer, skin problems, heart disease, and neurological effects on fetuses in the case of pregnant women.
