Nancy VanHorn, the US charge d’affaires in Tirana, is focusing on the Assembly ahead of the new session on January 19. She held meetings with the leaders of the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party, Taulant Balla and Gazment Bardhi, as well as with the Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi. The discussions come after the opposition’s criticism of the previous session and warnings of protests, as the Assembly prepares for electoral and territorial reforms.

SPAK is investigating the financing of the DP Re-establishment Assembly on December 11, 2021, where Sali Berisha was re-elected as president. The investigation includes the former Prime Minister, family members and other MPs, while Belind Këlliçi and Indrit Hoxha were questioned about the sources of the funds used.

In the Special Court, the hearing on the "Buka" case against former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj was postponed to January 27. Ahmetaj requests to participate via video conference and denies allegations of abuse of power in the privatization of the company.
