Be careful of low temperatures or when traveling to snowy places. The cold affects the increase in heart attacks and other cardiac problems. Doctors advise patients who suffer from heart disease to dress well on these cold days and not to neglect medications, writes A2 CNN. Patients who have problems with their heart vessels should definitely be more careful in low temperatures, which means they should take their medication regularly. They should wear several layers when the temperatures are low.
" Often, in snowy areas, these types of patients make an extra effort, often by taking shovels and removing snow in certain segments, which can cause episodes such as angina pectoris, or what is known in the population as chest pain, even in patients who were previously unaware of it," says cardiologist Ermir Tafai.
He shows some of the signs that the heart gives even in healthy people due to the narrowing of blood vessels from the cold.
"A squeezing pain, which we call a retrosternal pain, which can spread to the left or right of the sternum, or to the left and right of the chest, which can take the left arm or both arms at the same time, or it can often spread behind the shoulders. A pain that lasts a few minutes and stops the moment we enter warm environments or the moment we stop the effort ," he explains.
" These are pains that need to be considered and, to be honest, they are a red alert, an alarm bell that should definitely make us go to the doctor ," he added.
