UPDATE/Informative Edition, 18:00

In this Informative Edition, we invite you to follow the main developments up to this hour of the day:

Prime Minister Edi Rama held a meeting with fuel suppliers, at a time of rising prices due to international tensions. Rama stressed that growth in the country will be moderate and ruled out the abolition of the turnover tax, asking companies to reduce profit rates so as not to burden citizens.

On the justice front, the GJKKO decided to proceed with the trial of the “Meta-Kryemadhi” file, one of the most sensitive political issues. Judge Gjoka dismissed the defendants’ requests, while the reactions from former officials were immediate.
SPAK has also sent former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, accused of corruption, money laundering and failure to declare assets, along with several other individuals, to trial.

Another development comes from the Constitutional Court, which refused to review the case of Fredi Beleri. The latter reacted harshly, declaring that he does not expect justice from Albanian institutions and that he will address the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

In the economy, data show that inflation in Albania according to EU standards has increased slightly in February, remaining above the European average, which reflects the ongoing pressures on prices and purchasing power.

Abroad, a serious tragedy occurred in Vienna, where four Albanians lost their lives after a construction scaffolding collapsed. The victims were from Kosovo and Prime Minister Albin Kurti expressed condolences, describing the incident as shocking.

Meanwhile, the situation in the Middle East has deteriorated significantly. The US has struck Iranian bases in the Strait of Hormuz, while reports speak of the elimination of a senior Iranian intelligence figure, increasing the risk of a wider regional escalation.

At the European level, over 20 organizations have called on EU institutions to take action against Google, accusing it of violating the Digital Markets Act and demanding the imposition of fines.

In sports, the Albanian Football Association has brought back to attention the goals scored against Poland in September 2023, on the eve of the important "play-off" match for the 2026 World Cup, raising the expectations of Albanian fans.
