In justice, former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj has requested a shortened trial in the “SASPAC” case, which would allow for a reduced sentence if found guilty. Beqaj is accused of corruption, forgery of documents and violation of equality in tenders while he was leading the agency that managed EU funds. Meanwhile, in another court case, businessman Behgjet Pacolli has rejected claims that he had knowledge of the murder of Liridona Ademaj, stressing that his name is being unfairly used as an alibi by the accused.
Internationally, the State Department has updated its list of high-risk countries for travel, placing Albania and Kosovo at Level 2, while Ukrainian children abducted by the conflict are being sent to indoctrination camps linked to Russian oil companies Gazprom and Rosneft.
