All Shkodra police leaders are dismissed from their duties.
Following Prime Minister Rama's order to occupy public spaces, State Police Director Ilir Proda has dissolved the Shkodra Police leadership.
Such a decision comes after the government's action to demolish unauthorized constructions in Theth, where cabins set up to receive tourists are being removed.
In a statement to the media, Ilir Proda announced that he has dismissed Shkodra Police Director Fatmir Lleshaj and police station chief Nik Nikolla.
The chief of the Theth police station was also suspended from duty. Proda said that a disciplinary investigation has been launched against them and stressed that "they do not deserve to be part of the State Police."
The Director General of the State Police, Ilir Proda, while announcing the dismissals, also warned the leaders of other regions that they will be held accountable if violations are found.
Regarding unauthorized construction and the occupation of public spaces, Ilir Proda stated that there will be daily checks by the police.
"Given the recent situation created with construction in the center of Theth, I have ordered an in-depth investigation and I inform you that the chief of the Theth Police Station has been immediately suspended from duty and disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against him.
I believe that as a function of his unjustifiable inaction, he has chosen his own path to not be part of the state police and I see no reason for him to wear the police uniform anymore.
Disciplinary proceedings have also begun against the area inspector and crime specialists, who equally do not deserve to be part of the State Police.
"The responsibility for illegal construction cannot remain the sole responsibility of a zone inspector and crime specialist, so I have decided to dismiss the Director of the Shkodra Local Directorate, as well as the Chief of the Shkodra Police Commissariat ," he said.
