The former Mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako, arrested for "abuse of duty" on two occasions, appealed to the Supreme Court opposing the decision of the Special Appeal that left the security measure of detention in prison unchanged.
The appeal has been registered as the lottery has appointed Ilir Panda as relator judge and the latter is expected to set the date for the consideration of the request.
Vangjush Dako, the former mayor of Durrës, was arrested on June 6 by order of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime on suspicion of abuse of office in two cases. The first case concerns the granting of a construction permit in 2011 for a building, in neighborhood no. 5, in the center of Durrës, which was damaged by the 2019 earthquake. After verification, it is suspected that the building had 4 floors without permission and the legalization of the building was carried out in violation of the law.
The second case has to do with a report for the tender of the promenade, which according to the High State Control, the damage was calculated at 18 million ALL.
In total, together with Dako, 10 arrest warrants were issued, 7 of which with prison arrest and 3 under house arrest.
