The lawyer for the 19-year-old's family is demanding a full investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
The death of a 19-year-old of Albanian origin remains a mystery, while 3 people are in custody, as the investigation continues. The victim, identified as Myrto, was abandoned on the street, while previously she was in a hotel room with 3 young people, where she is suspected of being drugged with cocaine. It is not known whether the young woman drugged herself, or was forced to take an overdose, which is expected to be clarified by the investigation.
Myrtos' family lawyer openly stated what, according to him, is circulating as information throughout the island: that other people may have been involved in the death of the 19-year-old in Kefalonia.
“Only in this way will the truth about what really happened come to light. The loss of Myrtos should serve as a great contribution to the local community,” Mr. Drakoulógkonas said in an interview with ERT. He hinted that the girl’s tragic death could become a reason to cleanse Argostoli and the entire island of individuals with illegal behavior, before there are more victims.
"From the atmosphere and from what has come to light, it turns out that there are other people moving around in this environment, who have telephone and internet contacts with certain people, in the specific place. You understand what I mean... It is clear that something else needs to be investigated further," the lawyer added, providing more clarification.
He added that to fully unravel the incident, the previous four hours, but also the previous four days, must be investigated to see how we got to that specific room and under what conditions and circumstances.
Speaking on Star TV on Saturday evening, former police officer Giorgos Kalliakmanis stated that the “throwing point” in the drug case was the young woman’s death. He also revealed that “there was a plan to put the girl into prostitution,” a plan that was not realized due to Myrto’s tragic end.
He added that another 18-year-old girl was in the next room, hinting that Myrto's case may not have been isolated, but that a wider organization may be behind it.
Regarding the efforts of the doctors, Mr. Drakoulógkonas explained that the girl’s mother also confirmed the immediate presence of medical staff at the hospital. “The mother confirmed to me that everyone was in their places, doctors and staff, from the first moment the incident occurred. In addition, we were also informed by them themselves in the previous days,” said the lawyer for the 19-year-old’s family.
