Foreign media have reflected the decision of the Constitutional Court on the agreement between Albania and Italy for immigrants.
The prestigious British BBC has written about the decision on the agreement that must now be ratified by the Albanian parliament.
According to the BBC, the agreement is likely to pass easily in the parliament as Prime Minister Edi Rama has an undisputed majority.
The BBC also writes that Albanian media reported that the court's judges voted 5-4 to overturn the request to block the proposed legislation.
According to the agreement, while the asylum requests of immigrants trying to go to Italy are examined, they will stay in two centers near Shengjin.
Once the migrants' asylum claims have been assessed, Italy will be responsible for either relocating them from centers in Italy or deporting them.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Rama first presented the agreement in Rome in November.
Soon after, the agreement was temporarily blocked after the Albanian opposition presented two petitions arguing that the agreement would deny asylum seekers the protection of the constitution and international law.
But on Monday, Constitutional Court judges ruled that the agreement was not unconstitutional.
The judges also rejected claims that the agreement to set up asylum facilities would give Italy sovereignty over Albanian territory.
Last week, Italian MPs also voted in favor of the agreement.
It will now go to the Italian Senate, where its approval is expected.
Meloni, who leads the right-wing party, promised to crack down on immigration when she was elected in September 2022.
