Look at just two numbers. The monthly payment that the government gives as economic assistance to a poor family with two adults and two children is 5,200 ALL. So 1,300 ALL per month per person. This is what these people have to live with.
The government itself admits that the economic aid scheme in Albania cannot even guarantee the physical survival of the poor, let alone provide them with a life with dignity. The prime minister himself has publicly stated several times that he and his government would very much like to provide greater support to the poor, but it is justified that the budget no longer has the opportunity to do so. But is it true that the budget does not have money to give more, as the government says?
A day ago, Albanians saw a video recording between the former mayor of Kukës and a woman with two schools, who dealt with dogs and more. After successfully passing the test of power, the woman proposed to the former mayor a project to collect, castrate and keep the street dogs of Kukes.
According to the proposal, which received preliminary approval in 13 and a half minutes, the Municipality of Kukës would pay the woman 6,000 Lek per month for each stray dog. So, 1,300 Lek per month for a poor Kuksian, but 6,000 Lek per month for a stray dog.
This is the criminal reality of Albania today. Contrary to what the government says, there is money. But they run away for street dogs, pine flies, mosquito medicine and how many dirty thieving holes like these, which are born every day in state offices.
The money goes to these holes and not to the poor because they cannot be stolen in social transfers. But when they go for mosquitoes, pine flies, street dogs, they are stolen. Or they enable the rulers to satisfy their lusts.
The poor now have only one thing left. To come to terms with reality. Every time they see a dog with an ear tag, they have to make peace with the fact that in the eyes of the government the dog is 5 times more valuable than they are. Or else they train their throats for the dirty sticks of power./ Oligarkia.al
