At the Tirana Court, a preliminary hearing is being held behind closed doors against Mario Përlleshaj, who is accused of the murder of Martin Cani.
Present at the hearing are the family members of the late Martin, along with his friend, Luis, who was injured in the serious incident that shook the country in November of last year.
Last month, through his defense attorney, Mario Përlleshaj submitted a request to the Court of Appeals for a replacement personal security measure. After review, the Court of Appeals in Tirana dismissed the request.
The 14-year-old is in the Kavaja institution, and in December he challenged the measure of "prison arrest". On December 17, the Court of Appeal in Tirana upheld the measure of "prison arrest" against him.
Martin Cani was killed on November 18th a few meters from the "Fan Noli" school in the capital. His friend, Luis Meçja, was also injured in the fight.
