The final night of Jay-Z's concert series at Yankee Stadium descended into chaos as hundreds of people without tickets attempted to force their way into the stadium, forcing organizers to temporarily close the entrances.
The situation created large crowds outside the stadium, and the concert was delayed for nearly four hours. According to organizers, some people managed to break through security barriers, prompting New York City police to intervene to regain control.
The gates were only reopened after it was deemed safe for the public. Meanwhile, fans with tickets reported long waits and tense scenes during the chaos outside the stadium. Some said people fainted, suffered health problems and sought medical attention.
Footage shared on social media showed thousands of people gathered outside the stadium long after the concert's scheduled start time.
Jay-Z took the stage around 12:15 a.m. and apologized to fans for the delay, explaining that the postponement was done to avoid a more serious situation.
The concert was part of a three-day series with which the rapper celebrated the anniversaries of his two most popular albums, "Reasonable Doubt" and "The Blueprint."
Despite problems at the entrance, the final night set a stadium attendance record, with 45,832 spectators in attendance.
