The director of the Albanian Post branch in Durrës, Elisabeta Mataj, has been dismissed from her position and reported to the Prosecutor's Office for abuse of funds, following an inspection conducted at this branch.
Mataj has been dismissed from his post, as it is suspected that the amount of 700 thousand euros is missing from the postal fund, which is suspected to have been embezzled by the director.
Sources indicate that irregularities and violations have been found in the administration of funds related to payments.
According to sources, preliminary suspicions speak of an economic damage that could reach around 3 million euros, while investigations are expected to determine the exact value of the abuse and individual responsibilities.
The Albanian Post itself announced that during the verifications, violations related to the management of payment services funds were identified. After the completion of the control, the institution took administrative measures against the employees involved and referred the case to the Prosecutor's Office, filing a criminal report.
Following the developments, it is learned that the head of the finance sector, Valbona Hoti Duni, has also submitted her resignation.

The institution announced that it has taken administrative measures against the responsible employees and has filed a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office.
