The residents of the area were promised that the space would be turned into a pedestrian area for them and there would be an environment for children. Concrete has already begun to be poured there and it has been turned into a parking lot.
Residents of the Qesaraka area in Tirana have been facing a problem of occupying public spaces for many months.
We are talking about the area near the "17 Shkurti" school, an area neglected by the local and central governments.
To be more precise. After the 2019 earthquake, it was decided to rebuild the school in question and after several years of work, it was opened to the children of the area.
But in addition to the school, they were then told that they would intervene in the stream that emerges from the former RENEA department and descends towards Fresku. The residents of the area were promised that it would be turned into a pedestrian area for them and there would be an environment for children. But this did not happen.
In fact, the area in question was occupied within a short time. As can be seen from the footage, concrete has begun to be poured there and it has been turned into a parking lot.

The problem of the residents is that there is no environment where children can play. There is no football field or other environment. Both areas that could be turned into parks or places for children to play have been turned into parking lots. So even in the area near the New Ring Road, where the stream emerges, the same thing happened, it was turned into a parking lot. According to the residents, there is even talk that a palace could be built there.

" We are not asking for anything more than a field for children to play. As you can see on both sides, there is a parking lot. They have even started to concrete it. In the meantime, the children have nowhere to play. We have contacted the authorities. We have complained to the municipality, but no one answers us. We just want an environment for children, because they cannot go out to play in parking lots ," says one of the residents.

Residents have turned to " Pamphlet " to raise it as a problem, because no one listens to them. They face the same phenomenon that is happening regularly in Tirana. It is enough to have a piece of land and it is either turned into a parking lot or buildings are built. These buildings have children and elderly people. We hope that the authorities will take measures and find a solution for the residents of the area in question. / Pamphlet
