The analyst, Preç Zogaj, has spoken about the debates that took place at the meeting of the Presidency of the Democratic Party yesterday and the developments surrounding this situation.
In an interview for News24, Zogaj said that the decision that was voted by the membership to start the reorganization of the PD by first choosing the party chairman, is logical considering that this political force has been without a chairman for a year and a half.
According to him, this situation had serious consequences as the party lacked ideas and in the elections it was depicted in this state.
As for the militants who were last night near the meeting of the Presidency of the Democrats, Zogaj stated that they have the right to be informed about the decisions taken by the party, but they cannot impose any position, while he condemned the threats and insults, describing them as "impermissible ".
"It is a decision that was taken after a long meeting with discussions and opinions. The official DP has been working like this for a long time. Two positions are presented there. Both propositions are good, and one cannot say that one is bad or good. Both reflections show the interests of the parties who have proposed them. To me, what has been decided is a fair solution, considering that this party has not had an elected president for a year and a half.
This situation has had serious consequences as the party has lacked ideas and in the elections it was written in this state. The beginning of the reorganization with the election of the chairman is more logical. It was necessary to avoid choosing him randomly, just to pass the queue and the decision of the Presidency giving 2 months time to prepare the race, gives an answer to this that it is being done within a time limit that allows all leaders to consider running and conduct the race for the election of the head of the DP without being influenced by someone's selection.
It would be unfortunate if there were no diverse proposals in the party. Both proposals have negative and positive sides. This solutions through voting, they should not be imposed. The lack of a leader has caused these meetings to last forever, but there was a positive side that everyone was heard and expressed. I have been several times in DP forums and a member of several groups that had proposals in the minority. Everyone must conform to the decision of the majority, this is democracy.
Militants have the right to be informed about the decisions made by the party, but they cannot impose any position. Anyone who thinks they can use militants to impose positions is committing an anti-democratic act. Threats and insults are unacceptable in a democratic party. There are some scenes that take us back a few years. These are the scenes that make up a sad and far-reaching chapter in PD. PD asks for a different opinion because there are cases when the truth lies in the minority. This is the difference between democratic and pseudo-democratic parties. Today PD does not have too many people, it needs to grow and expand with more people around itself, not to build such schemes that reduce it.
I understand that militants are charged at times and need to be understood in their frustration. The deputies of the official PD have long been under verbal aggression from the servants of the billionaires that this party has created over the years. We have all suffered this, but what I wanted to say about the deputies, is that they have carried a burden and endured a lot at this time, but they are approaching the shore and the last word should not be said first. I ask some militants who are not just militants, as they also have functions. They know what democracy is and they may even have been manipulated," said Zogaj.
