The Association of Life Insurance Companies, Pensions and Investment Funds (SH.SJ.P.FI) organizes on June 15 the First Regional Conference "Private Pensions in Focus" with the main purpose of the necessity of changing and improving the current market conditions private pensions, in the amendment and improvement of the draft law, in the commitment to recognize the importance of private pension funds at the regional economic and social level.
The conference will discuss the problems that Albania is facing, the necessary changes, the absorption of best practices from the region and Europe, while it will also be discussed about cooperation with interest groups to achieve the implementation of the necessary improvements.
In an interview for Top News, Elvis Ponari, Chairman of the Association of Life Insurers, Pensions and Investment Funds, which is also the organizer of the event, states that this conference has as one of its main objectives the commitment to recognize the importance of the funds of private pension at the regional economic and social level
" As the chairman of the Association of Life Insurance Companies, Pensions and Investment Funds, I am happy to announce that on June 15, in Tirana, the Regional Conference "Private Pensions in Focus" will take place for the first time, which has the main objective is the necessity of changing and improving the current conditions of the pension market, changing and improving the draft law and the commitment to recognize the importance of private pension funds at the regional economic and social level, "he said .
According to Mr. Ponari, Albania is suffering a pension crisis today, also due to high emigration and low birth rate, which is causing the number of contributors and beneficiaries to equalize.
He adds that the countries of the region and Europe have given solutions to this problem for a long time.
" Today, the pension system is a political, social and economic problem. I think that not only the crisis we are facing, but the very decline of contributors to the pension system carries great uncertainty for the near future. The countries of the region but also those of Europe have already implemented such pension systems for years, relying on private schemes, enabling citizens to have more than one pension at the age of three, he added .
Mr. Ponari, adding that private pension funds have been operating in Albania for 17 years and are the largest and most successful businesses in the country, states that the education of the population on these very important products is the objective of the Association that he leads.
" The association that I lead has as its primary focus the education of the population with the safety that these services offer, since a good part of the citizens are distrustful due to the lack of legal knowledge, but also the lack of information campaigns," said Mr. Ponari .
But as the Parliament is expected to vote on the new Law on "Private Pensions", Mr. Elvis Ponari has an appeal:
" On the eve of this conference, where guests from the country, the region and Europe will participate, we urge the Assembly to vote as soon as possible on the new Law "On Private Pensions". This new initiative, for which we have been working for years, which, in addition to creating another column in the current pension scheme, aims at more tax relief for both employees and employers .
