The head of the Maliq MZSH, Sadik Halili, has provided new details regarding the tragic fire that claimed the lives of two people in Maliq. Halili said that the fire department was notified late because the neighbors did not realize that there was a fire in the apartment because the windows and doors were closed.
He stressed that the distance was short and that after being notified by the police they went to the scene. According to him, when they arrived they found the mother and son dead, who had died from asphyxiation.
According to him, there are two lines of investigation so far, one that the cause of the fire was a match or a wood stove.
" We found the 14-year-old boy and the housewife, who were suffocated by smoke, with no signs of life. Burns were found on the second child, who had burns on his face and various parts of his body. We found both children in the yard of the apartment, and we found their mother at the kitchen door, asphyxiated by smoke. There were no burns, death came from asphyxiation from smoke."
Upon receiving the notification, we arrived in 2 minutes. The distance was short, seeing the burns when we arrived there was no fire, it was over. We evacuated the child, their mother and prepared them for the hospital ," he told "Euronews Albania".
