IKMT official clashes with Thethi residents: We broke the law by tolerating you,

For almost two hours, residents of Theth blocked the bridge at the entrance to the village, as they protested against the demolition of 40 unauthorized buildings.

The protest was accompanied by tensions with the police. Residents demanded that the state stop the demolition of buildings, an action they described as a massacre being carried out in the middle of the tourist season.

The Director of Decision Implementation at IKMT, Fatmir Mete, was personally present in the area and faced protests from citizens, who opposed the demolition of several buildings.

In a direct debate with residents, Mete said that residents had received prior notice and that institutions had shown excessive tolerance towards them.

"You promised us that you would dismantle the objects yourself. We tolerated you for two days and we violated the law in this tolerance. Don't play with the misfortune of others, because it is a sin," he declared.

According to Mete, the buildings in question were built without a permit and the residents have attempted to avoid liability by performing notarial acts to transfer ownership.

"When the inspection group arrived, the objects were in the name of one person and now you have transferred them to the name of another," said Mete.
