There is no end to Fatmir Xhafaj's exploits. As he continues to work under the carpet and away from the public's attention for what he calls the "anti-corruption war", now it seems that he will also waste the Albanians' taxes.
Xhafaj has sent a letter to the Bureau of the Assembly, where he requests a fund of 500 thousand euros, as he needs it to pay experts that he agreed with the Anticorruption Commission. It is about a list of 81 names, who will be paid for the "help" they will provide.
According to the document published by the journalist Esiona Konomi, it is about 81 names and the Assembly has approved the request.
According to the division made by Xhafaj, the experts will have 3 levels of payments. The first level of high-level experts has 30 names. They will receive 3 gross salaries of an advisor, or in other words about 8 thousand euros.
The second level, of 11 names, will receive 2 salaries of a councilor in the Assembly, or 5,600 euros.
The technical secretariat, consisting of 15 people, and 12 third-level experts will receive 2,800 euros for the work at this commission, reports " Shqiptarja.com ".
Fatmir Xhafaj has also provided payment for a category called: "Foreign experts". They are 23 people and will be paid 5600 euros. As it appears from the specification of the names, the foreign experts turn out to be Albanians living abroad. The involvement of experts from the diaspora has been one of the commitments that Xhafaj has made in public.
This commission is viewed with great skepticism. The opposition has abandoned it, while internationals have made it clear that it should not be used to affect justice reform. However, SP's plan is for the work to continue until after the elections, with the hope that they will have secured 84 mandates in the Assembly and then do whatever they want with the laws. The whole aim is said to be to dilute or limit the role of SPAK. Let's see how well Xhafaj will succeed.
