According to AKEP, the number of active users of the ONE network fell from 1.42 million in the second quarter of last year to 1.24 million in the second quarter of this year.
The latest official data from the Electronic Communications Authority shows that the number of active users of mobile services shrank by almost 8 percent in the second quarter of the year, compared to the same period last year.
According to AKEP, the number of active users of mobile services decreased by 2.57 million at the end of the second quarter, from 2.79 million in the same period last year.
The decline has been particularly strong for the company ONE, which has lost 180 thousand subscribers or 12.6 percent of active users in just one year. According to AKEP, the number of active users of the ONE network fell from 1.42 million in the second quarter of last year to 1.24 million in the second quarter of this year.
For Vodafone, the decline has been more restrained. The international telephone giant has suffered a decline of only 2.9 percent of active users, losing only 40,000 subscribers.
ONE goes down Vodafone again
At the beginning of last year, One Albania merged with another mobile company, Albtelecom. The two companies that merged into one resulted in an active user base of 1,425,000 people. For the same period, Vodafone registered 1.36 million subscribers.
But ONE's leadership in the mobile market did not last more than a quarter. The company has been rapidly losing its subscriber base and in the third quarter of last year, Vodafone overtook it to become the largest mobile operator in the country.
The ONE company did not have a clear explanation for the double-digit drop in subscribers. According to her, part of the decline is related to number purges, although the data refers to active users.
In the case of ONE, the sharp decline seems to be related not only to emigration, but also to a trend of abandonment of the company by its subscribers. The figures show that some Albtelecom subscribers did not prefer to stay on the ONE network, especially after numerous problems in the summer of last year when the services of this company collapsed for many days. / Capital
