On January 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the Special Appeals College, which is the second level of vetting, Tirana prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri, the daughter-in-law of the brother of the trafficker and landfill boss, Mirel Mërtiri, will appear for a retrial and reassessment. , declared wanted together with Klodian Zoto and Stela Gugallje.
By Decision No. 606, dated December 21, 2022, prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri passed the vetting, instead of, according to the vetting law, she should have been dismissed only for the fact that she is the sister-in-law of a trafficker sentenced to 15 years in prison in Italy; as 79 prosecutors and judges have been dismissed who have family members convicted of crimes, or have had contact with criminals.
While the prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri was not fired, although the man's brother is a convicted trafficker and he donated millions of lek to buy an apartment and took 2 more apartments from other traffickers who were under investigation, while the ONM representative, Willem Brouwer, made 17 contacts with criminals and benefits from them.
But the vetting commission of the first instance, directed by Pamela Qirko (Balluku), ignored these facts obtained from the investigation and did not dismiss the prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri, although 1 of the 3 members of the judicial body asked for it.
As it seems, the power of millions of the brother-in-law, boss of the landfills, Mirel Mërtiri, worked for the prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri to be "clean" in the first degree vetting.
But with Request- Appeal "Case (JR) no. 12/2023, dated March 15, 2023 of the Public Commissioner and ONM, on January 16, 2024, prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri, will be in a re-trial session at the Special Appeal Board
According to the information provided by "Pamphlet", from sources within the Special Appeal Board, it is said that the head of the judicial re-evaluation team, Ina Rama, made a bargain with the boss of the landfills, Mirel Mërtiri, that his sister-in-law, prosecutor Marjola Mërtiri, do not download; while Ina Rama is said to have bargained with the relator Rezarta Schuetz and the 4 members Sokol Çomo, Albana Shtylla and Mimoza Tasi, so that they would not dismiss the prosecutor Mariola Mërtiri.
