A 4.4 magnitude earthquake shook the residents of Naples, Italy, this morning.
The tremors were felt at 5:51 a.m., and in nearby towns, as many people in their homes woke up shaken.
Italian media reports that after the long and strong earthquake, which was clearly felt in most of Naples and reported by numerous users on social media, the municipalities of Pozzuoli, Bacoli and Quarto have decided to keep schools closed.
Several calls to the fire operations center were received from concerned residents seeking information on the situation, but no one, so far, has requested assistance or reported any damage. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported.
The mayor of Pozzuoli has activated the Municipal Operations Center (COC), as has the mayor of Bacoli, Josi Gerardo Della Ragione, who wrote on Facebook: "It was strong. We just felt a strong tremor in our area. I have ordered the closure of all public and private schools in Bacoli. At the same time, all school buildings are being inspected. We are on the way to assess any damage."
