An attack by 'two unmanned aerial vehicles' has hit the port of Salalah in Oman, injuring a foreign worker and causing material damage.
According to the Oman News Agency, citing security sources, a crane in the port area was damaged in the incident. Authorities have not yet given details about the perpetrators or possible motives for the attack.
The Omani government reacted by strongly condemning the event, describing it as a hostile act and emphasizing that it "is committed to taking all necessary measures to guarantee security in the country."
"The Sultanate of Oman reiterates its strong condemnation of these hostile attacks and affirms its commitment to taking all necessary measures to preserve the security of the nation and ensure the safety of all individuals on its soil. A worker was injured in a drone attack in the port of Salalah, Oman, while a crane suffered limited damage," the response said.
The incident comes at a sensitive regional moment, with Oman having played a mediating role in relations between the US and Iran. However, recently, senior officials in the country have expressed criticism of US foreign policy and developments in the region.
