50 days: Trump's ultimatum, the timer for the next failure
Donald Trump /

Fifty days for peace, or to hide the West's powerlessness?

If ever history needed a new episode of the tragic comedy unfolding in the global theater of madness, then President Trump's latest statement would be the ideal scenario. Giving Russia "50 days" to end a war that has turned Ukraine into a pit of blood and rubble for more than three years is not diplomacy, it is pure cynicism disguised as diplomatic ultimatums.

What will happen in these 50 days that hasn't happened in the last three years? If Trump thinks Putin will be scared by "100% tariffs," then he has either forgotten who he is dealing with, or he has chosen to forget that Russia has already crossed a red line. The war is no longer just a matter of economics, but of pride and political survival for a regime that has laid all its cards on the table.

Even more absurd is the idea that NATO and the EU will foot the bill for the Patriot systems that the US is sending to Ukraine. As always, the war bill is shared, but the profits of peace will remain the property of the one who launches the first missile. If this game of dates and ultimatums worked, the world would have seen peace since the first ultimatum in history.

All of this seems like an attempt to do something, without doing anything. For 50 days, Trump has set an invisible clock that sounds more like a stopwatch of the next failure than a signal of peace. This ultimatum is not a solution, it is a clear sign of the helplessness of a world that still does not know how to stop its own catastrophe.

In the end, as the clock ticks, the only thing certain is that the lives of Ukrainians, now reduced to a cynical statistic of geopolitics, will continue to be counted in hours, not days./ Pamphlet
