Russia has no military or geopolitical interest in attacking NATO countries, its defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, has declared.
But he added that NATO troops have created additional threats to Russia by moving closer to its borders.
According to the TASS news agency, the Russian minister was quoted as saying that Washington is deliberately dragging out the conflict in Ukraine by applying unprecedented pressure.
Regarding the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine, Shoigu claimed that Ukraine's alleged attacks risk catastrophic consequences.

The factory has been occupied by Russian troops since the beginning of the conflict.
Shoigu claimed that foreign advisers are helping Ukraine to prepare acts of sabotage on Russian territory, but did not provide evidence.
