Is there a possibility of extending the Israel-Hamas agreement beyond the agreed

Israel says it will be open to extending the ceasefire - which ends on Tuesday morning - for 24 hours each time Hamas releases 10 hostages.

Reporting from the Israeli capital, Tel Aviv, Sky News' Middle East correspondent Alistair Bunkall says that as each day of the ceasefire progresses, the mood turns from relief in the morning to tremors later.

" The days are taking on a fairly familiar pattern here, the morning being a feeling of - I suppose - relief that the hostage release happened the night before. But as we approach 4 or 5 p.m., there's that nervousness if that happen again ," he says.

While the disagreements caused a delay in the release of the hostages last night, they were overcome, which he said was "a very positive sign".

" Despite the fragility of the ceasefire, despite the lack of trust between Israel and Hamas, they were able with the mediation of Qatar and Egypt to overcome these differences. So I think it should be reassuring that today the process seems to have gone quite well , because everything is really going at the right time ," he said.

According to the Sky News correspondent, those disputes could have led to a total breakdown of the ceasefire, but the fact that they were settled shows that the parties are satisfied with the ceasefire.

"This tells us that, at least for now, Hamas and Israel are happy with the situation as it is and seeing the ceasefire take place for as long as possible," he added .

Bunkall says there is real hope in the international community that something can be done to expand it further./ SkyNews
