The death of Jeffrey Epstein and the circumstances surrounding it, as well as the global scandal that followed involving high-profile figures, continue to fuel numerous conspiracy theories. The recent release of several documents by the US Department of Justice has revived the most widespread claim: that Epstein is still alive.
On social media, some users have gone so far as to claim to have seen Epstein himself. Among the theories that have been circulating recently was that a Fortnite account was mistakenly linked to Epstein and was recently used. The claim has been debunked.
Another case that went viral was an image of a man with long gray hair, supposedly walking down a street in Israel. The photo was later proven to have been created by artificial intelligence.
The evidence in the files makes it clear that he is alive.

More extreme theories are also circulating on Platform X, according to which Epstein has been "exchanged" from prison and replaced with a dead body, while he is currently in Guantanamo Bay to be questioned regarding information he may have about foreign countries.
Numerous reactions were also caused by an image from the night of his death in prison, where a vague "orange light" is seen that appears to move towards the cell, interpreted by some as suspicious evidence.
The spread of these theories was also reflected in a poll conducted in X by Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, after the release of the latest documents from the Department of Justice. The poll involved about 147,000 people: 46% said they believe Epstein is still alive, 33% that he was murdered, while only 3% said they believe the official version of suicide.
The Epstein case remains one of the clearest examples of how a lack of public trust and misinformation on social media fuel widespread conspiracy theories.
