Donald Trump has attacked Olympic boxer Imane Khelif after the Algerian won gold in Paris on Friday. Khelif defeated China's Yang Liu in the women's featherweight final, ending the best streak of her boxing career.
But hours later, in Montana, Khelif was the target of several verbal attacks from Trump as he addressed a crowd at a rally in Bozeman.
"Who wants men to participate in women's sports? I would like to congratulate the young woman who has evolved from a man to a woman. 'He'… She won the gold medal,” Trump said.
Khelif is not transgender and was born female, but it has been claimed she has male XY chromosomes after taking a test last year under the IBA, who have since largely refused to answer questions about how the process works.
“And the woman, the beautiful woman, from Italy? She went in there and didn't know what was going on. She's a very good boxer — but only against other women," Trump continued.
Donald Trump was referring to Angela Carini, who was out for 46 seconds in her 'fight' with Khelif last week after being punched in the nose. She was in tears and said she had never been hit so hard before.

"He did it. She immediately said wow, no one has ever hit me that hard. "Then 'he' hit her again and she immediately gave up," Trump said.
Speaking at a press conference after winning the gold medal on Friday, Khelif said: "For eight years, this has been my dream, and now I'm an Olympic champion and a gold medalist." /Daily Mail
