
A tragic accident happened in the early hours of this morning, where 7 vehicles collided with each other in the northwest of Turkey and as a result 11 people lost their lives.
Another 57 people were injured in the accident.
According to Hurriyet newspaper, the fatal accident happened on the Northern Marmara highway at around 4:30 am and is believed to have been caused by the dense fog that had covered the area, started when a car hit a truck.
After the first collision, some passengers got out of their cars to see what happened and were hit by the speeding vehicles, as explained by the governor of Sangario, Yasar Karadeniz. Seven of the injured are in a serious condition, while there are strong fire and police forces at the scene who are conducting investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
The road to Istanbul is still blocked, according to local media.
