The head of the fire department spoke about the serious accident in Venice, Italy where 21 people lost their lives, 12 were injured and 4-5 people are missing. According to local media, the number of victims may increase.
Fire chief Mauro Luongo said getting people out was very difficult. HE also says that the bus was full of passengers.
"We counted 39 people, including some minors. It was a complex operation. Among the difficulties was the fact that the bus was electric, that is, with batteries. Unfortunately, they caught fire from the collision. Batteries have critical consequences when they are hot ," he said.
The dynamics of the serious accident in Venice, Italy, still remains unclear, according to the first suspicions, the cause may have been the health condition of the driver, or some wrong maneuver at a point where they were carrying out work on the renovation of the overpass.
According to the prefect of the area, Veneto Luca Zaia, the injured are foreign tourists and among them there are also children. He added that the victims have not yet been identified, but it is suspected that they are foreign nationals of different nationalities, as Ukrainian documents were found on the bus.
