
Democratic Congressman Mike Levin called on US President Joe Biden this Friday to withdraw his candidacy for the November elections.
Underscoring his respect for Joe Biden's years of service, the 45-year-old Levin said in his statement that it was time for a new leader.
"I think it's time for President Biden to hand over the baton, it's time to move forward, with a new leader," he said.
So far, 18 members of Congress and one Democratic senator have publicly called on President Biden to withdraw from the race.
They are Congressmen Lloyd Doggett (Texas), Raul Grijalva (Arizona), Seth Moulton (Massachusetts), Mike Quigley (Illinois), Angie Craig (Minnesota), Adam Smith (Washington), Mickey Sherrill (New Jersey), Pat Ryan (New Jersey), Earl Blumenauer (Oregon), Hilary Solten (Michigan), Brad Snyder (Illinois), Ed Case (Hawaii), Greg Stanton (Arizona), Jim Himes (Connecticut), Scott Peters (California), Eric Sorensen (Illinois) , Brittany Petersen (Colorado), Mike Levin (California) and Senator Peter Welch (Vermont).
