New York Rep. Dan Goldman, who served as Democratic counsel in the first impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, has asked the special prosecutor to urgently and quickly investigate the issue of classified documents from the current president, Joe Biden.
" It is very important that the special counsel conduct a thorough investigation to determine whether President Biden intentionally withheld classified information and whether he knew he was doing so," Goldman Dana Bash told CNN . with the investigation into documents found in Biden's home and his private office.
Goldman also disputed arguments by House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, who said Trump's prosecution was political. The New York Democrat suggested that a "critical difference" between the Trump and Biden cases was the lack of evidence showing the current president "knowingly and intentionally" kept the information secret.
He drew a similar distinction between Trump's case and those of former Vice President Mike Pence and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
" They immediately notified the authorities and turned them over. That's the critical difference here that Mr. Jordan wants to ignore and all House Republicans want to ignore by their behavior ," he added.
