An alert was issued Wednesday morning at the US embassy in Ukraine about a possible airstrike.
After this information, embassy officials decided to temporarily close it.
"For precautionary reasons, the embassy will remain closed and employees will stay at home. The US Embassy urges Americans to be prepared to seek shelter immediately in the event of an air raid alert," said a statement from the US Embassy in Kyiv.
Earlier, Reuters reported that Kiev was under Russian airstrikes as anti-aircraft systems tried to intercept the attacks. Eyewitnesses said they heard multiple explosions.
