New York City's Times Square was evacuated after law enforcement discovered a suspicious package outside a New York Police Department (NYPD) precinct, an NYPD spokesman said.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a suspicious package that arrived at around 10:32 a.m. (local time) near W 43rd and 7th Ave.
The area has been evacuated as the investigation continues. The bomb squad is on scene assessing the suspicious package, according to the spokesman.
Police have told people to avoid the area while the investigation continues. "Expect emergency vehicles and delays in the surrounding area," the NYPD said in a post on X.
