Italian newspapers and TV news talk less and less about migration issues, but when politics is involved, the topic takes up a lot of space.
In the "XII" Report of the "Rome Charter", entitled "Contrast news", the most used word of 2024 is "Albania" (Albania). A reference to the agreements with Tirana for the transfer of immigrants from the other side of the Mediterranean.
Attention to this agreement was particularly high in the months of September-October, when the first immigrants who were refused asylum from Italy and the order of the courts for their return to the country began to be sent to the Gjadri camp.
The report, however, estimates that this year in the Italian media, the importance of news about emigration has been reduced by 42%, in proportion to the decrease in their influx to this country.
The study was presented this morning by the researcher of the Pavia Observatory, Giuseppe Milazzo, at the headquarters of the foreign press, in Palazzo Grazioli, on the occasion of the International Day of Immigrants.
