Viktor Medvedchuk, a Ukrainian politician living in exile in Russia since 2022, warned of a “third world war” after the United Kingdom and France signed an agreement aimed at establishing military bases in Ukraine if a ceasefire is reached.
"The agreement to deploy a multilateral contingent in Ukraine after the end of the conflict can be seen as a large-scale political provocation aimed at preventing this conflict from ending and thus leading the world into a third world war by creating all the necessary preconditions for this," wrote Medvedchuk, leader of the opposition movement "Other Ukraine," the Russian news agency Tass reported on Wednesday.
According to him, "this mess created by political impotents who have gone mad with arrogance could cost the entire world dearly."
