The Telegram team reacted on Sunday evening to the arrest of the founder of this platform, Pavel Durov in France.
"Telegram operates in accordance with European Union laws, including the Digital Services Act - its moderation is in line with industry standards and is constantly improving. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has nothing to hide and often travels around Europe. It is absurd to claim that the platform or its owner is responsible for the abusive operation", the relevant announcement states.
The platform team added that they expect this situation to be resolved as soon as possible. On Saturday night, French media reported that Telegram's founder was arrested at Le Bourget airport.
The arrest was made as he was disembarking from a private plane, having arrived, most likely, from Azerbaijan.
According to local media, Durov, who holds French citizenship, was on the country's wanted list for a number of offenses related to the operation of Telegram.
