Achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine, Putin: We are open to talks, but Kiev refuses  

Russian President Vladimir Putin has insisted again that he is ready to open peace talks with Kiev. Putin stated that Russia has never rejected the talks, responding to US claims that Moscow is obstructing the talks.

In a joint conference with Alexander Lukashenko in Sochi, Russia, Putin said:

" We never rejected talks and if the other side wants them, it is welcome, to say it unequivocally, as I am saying now, " Putin said at a joint conference with Alexander Lukashenko in Sochi, Russia.

The Russian president added that a decree signed by Volodymyr Zelenskyy last year banning negotiations with Putin's government was blocking any such discussions.

" We are not hearing [anything about the talks] from the other side ," Putin said.

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said recently that the US had seen no sign so far that Mr Putin "is interested in meaningful diplomacy".
