Turkish president calls Israeli leader an "ideological monster" and warns of an "inevitable end"...
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has raised the bar on the international stage with harsh and unprecedented statements against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, openly comparing him to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler and accusing him of fascist and genocidal ideology.
" Netanyahu is practically ideologically linked to Hitler. Those who govern Israel are nothing more than a network of murderers who have transformed their radical vision into a fascist ideology ," Erdogan told reporters after returning from the Doha International Summit, according to the Anadolu Agency.
The statement comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with the war in Gaza continuing to rage, and an ongoing international campaign against Tel Aviv's policies. Erdogan, known for his strong and direct rhetoric, is one of the few leaders of a major country to publicly compare Netanyahu's policies to those of Nazism.
The Turkish president continued with a historical parallel between World War II and the current war in Gaza, describing the Israeli prime minister as a leader blinded by power and arrogance.
" Just like Hitler, who was unable to foresee the defeat that awaited him due to temporary progress, Netanyahu will suffer the same fate. I believe in this ," Erdogan said.
These statements have the potential to affect the already tense relations between Ankara and Tel Aviv, which have deteriorated significantly since the start of the Gaza war in October 2023. Turkey has recalled its ambassador from Israel and has demanded an international investigation into war crimes.
Through this strong rhetoric, Erdogan appears to be positioning himself as a leader of the Muslim world who challenges Western hegemony in defense of Israel. By using the historical symbolism of fascism and Nazism, he aims to strike at the morale and international legitimacy of the Israeli government.
Turkey, as a key player in regional geopolitics, is trying to play a stronger role in shaping global opinion on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Erdogan's statements, although controversial in the Western diplomatic environment, find strong echoes in large parts of the Arab and Muslim world. /Pamphlet
