The Davos Economic Forum, held in Switzerland, has brought together a large number of leaders from around the world, including US President Donald Trump. The Summit is seen as a great opportunity for Western Balkan leaders, who, unable to hold official meetings with senior officials in Washington, use the Forum to take some photos.
Snapshots are then used by Balkan leaders to raise a 'fake' political rhetoric in their country, claiming to have the support of the US.
The fastest this time was Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who managed to take some photos with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. While posting the photos on Facebook, Vučić said that he had held a meeting with Rubio where he had talked about the global situation and the US-Serbia partnership.
Although Rubio appears to have been caught off guard by Vučić in the photo, the latter will find these photos very valuable, given the situation he finds himself in in Serbia.
"A cordial and brief meeting with Secretary Rubio, with whom I exchanged views on current developments and challenges in global politics, as well as on this year's #WEF26 themes.
"I emphasized Serbia's positions on key geopolitical issues and expressed my conviction that relations between our country and the US will continue to strengthen in areas of mutual interest, as Serbia, although a small country, enjoys an extraordinary reputation as a stable and reliable partner in a complex international context ," Vučić wrote in his Facebook post.
