Palestinian militants in the West Bank said today they executed two men accused of collaborating with Israeli authorities and hung the bodies "as a warning".
The statement was issued by the Tulkarem Brigades, a group based in the city of the same name and linked to Fatah. "There is no mercy for any whistleblower or traitor, we are watching and anyone who betrays the country will be held accountable."
In a video posted by the Tulkarem Brigades on Telegram, a man appears to confess to working with the Israeli security services and gives details of his actions. Other footage, which Reuters was unable to verify, showed two bodies, one hanging from a wall and one from an electric pole in front of an angry crowd.
The brigades gave a deadline of December 5 for those cooperating with the Israeli authorities to "appear and repent".
The Independent Commission for Human Rights, a Palestinian organization, issued a statement criticizing the extrajudicial killings but adding that Israeli authorities were responsible for recruiting Palestinian agents.
There is currently no comment from the Palestinian Authority or Israeli security services.
